The private school in Marathahalli, which was closed for more than 10 days after the rape of a six-year-old student on the school premises by the >skating instructor came to light, reopened on Monday. Rows of school busses ferrying teachers and students made way to school early Monday morning.
Classes five to 10 have reopened for the time being. Some of the parents who had come to drop off their children at school expressed satisfaction with the security measures that were put in place.
“We are glad the school is finally opening again. Children have lost a lot of classes and those in higher classes will have a lot of catching up to do,” a parent said.

There were others who were wary of the school being closed down. “That is not the solution. We still have faith in the school. There could be a problem with the management and not with the school,” another parent said. Some parents said management should have a meeting with the parents. They admitted that they were not thinking of pulling children out of the school as of now.
Vidyadhar, a parent, said a few parents had made the choice of withdrawing their children from the Marathahalli school. “That is an individual choice. We want the management to improve communication with the parents. We will conduct audits of the security measures.”
Strict police vigil at the entrance ensured that no one without identity cards, not even parents, entered the premises.
