Addressing a rally in Firozabad on Saturday, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav cautioned voters that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) come back to power, it may bring such a law which will take away all the rights of farmers and marginalised communities.

Calling the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as the election to save India’s democracy, Mr. Yadav alleged that the BJP deliberately didn’t undertake the caste census exercise as it is afraid of giving legitimate rights to Backwards and marginalised sections.

“On June 4, the government of the socialists will be formed. On the first day, permanent jobs and permanent recruitment will be done. Work will be done to ensure that everyone gets their rights as per reservation. This 2024 Lok Sabha election is not only our election but also the election of the coming generations. Just like the Samudra manthan (churning of the ocean) was done, this election is for saving the constitution and democracy,” he said in Firozabad, supporting the SP candidate Akshay Yadav.

Mr. Yadav claimed the SP candidate would win the 2024 polls with record votes. “The enthusiasm that is being seen is going to make Akshay Yadav win this time. In fact, he is going to win with record votes. In the first and second phases, the BJP has been left far behind,” the SP president added.

In Firozabad Lok Sabha, the SP candidate is locked in a three-cornered contest with BJP’s Vishwadeep Singh and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) nominee Chowdhary Basheer.

The SP president said unseating the BJP will help the country with improvement in employment opportunities. “Remove the BJP and the Constitution will be saved. If BJP is removed, jobs will be saved. If BJP is unseated from power at centre, employment opportunities will increase. The government waived off loans of big industrialists worth ₹16 lakh crore, but it did not make a rule that farmers’ loans should be waived off. We are assuring our farmer brothers that if the SP and the INDIA bloc government is formed in Delhi, the farmers’ loans will be waived off,” he claimed.

Mr. Yadav discussed about the works done by the SP government between 2012 and 2017 while accusing the BJP of stalling development initiatives. “When the SP focus on developing infrastructure, the Prime Minister talks about graveyards and crematorium during his rallies. This is the difference in vision,” he said.
