Revanth Reddy gets 12-hour bail

Telugu Desam Party MLA A. Revanth Reddy, now lodged in Central Prison in `cash for vote' case, was granted 12-hour interim bail by the Special Court for ACB Cases on Wednesday.

The court directed the prison authorities to set Revanth Reddy free from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. He was instructed to furnish two sureties, each of Rs.50,000, in the court. Main bail petition of the MLA and the two other accused in the case, Harry Sebastian and Rudra Uday Simha, was dismissed by the court.

Prison authorities would send an escort team along with Mr. Revanth Reddy. He was instructed to return to the prison by 6 p.m. on Thursday. Earlier, the Special Court judge heard the arguments of the counsel for Mr. Reddy, Sidharth Lothra, who contended that the latter should be given bail keeping in view his daughter’s engagement to be held on Thursday.

The ACB special public prosecutor stated that he had no objection if the MLA was given one-day interim bail but contended that Mr. Reddy would try to influence the witnesses if he was given regular bail.
