MP asks AP chief Minister to surrender in cash for vote case

Adilabad MP G. Nagesh on Wednesday asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to surrender before the law for his role in the `cash for vote' case. "There is no escape for you as you are guilty of involvement in the case," he told Mr. Naidu.

Mr. Nagesh demanded the AP Chief Minister to come clean on the issue by accepting his guilt. "You tell people whether you had sent Revanth Reddy and whether the latter's video conversation at MLA Stephenson's home was authentic," he said.

Denying the accusation of tapping the phone of the AP Chief Minister at a press conference here, Mr. Nagesh, who was a Minister in unified AP under TDP rule, said the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) had no reason to do so. Any ordinary user of cell phones can record calls these days," he observed to drive home the point that recording calls was commonplace.

Criticising the TDP rank and file for making the alleged phone tapping an issue, the TRS MP questioned why should they be afraid of such an occurrence if they are not guilty. "By alleging phone tapping you are only agreeing to the fact that the voice on the tape was Mr. Naidu's," he pointed out.

Mr. Nagesh also criticised the TDP for making the issue look like some inter-State dispute. "The TDP is also trying to give it the colour of a fight between Telugu speaking people," he added.
