AIADMK functionary commits suicide in Kancheepuram

An All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party functionary, Babu (45) of Kuruvimalai, near Kancheepuram, has reportedly committed suicide on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the deceased, serving as the deputy branch secretary of AIADMK Kuruvimalai unit, hanged himself in a tree near his house. His body was noticed hanging from the tree by some local persons early this morning who later informed Babu’s family members.

Subsequently, police seized the body. Preliminary investigation revealed that Babu who was found visibly upset over the Saturday developments relating to his party supremo, might have taken the extreme step of ending his life. He is survived by two wives and four children, police said.
