No untoward incident has been reported so far in any part of the Union Territory, especially along places bordering Tamil Nadu, in the wake of the adverse verdict by a Bangalore special court against Ms Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case.
The central offices of both the AIADMK on Uppalam Road and the DMK on Candappa Mudaliar street wore a deserted look at about the time the verdict came out.
The AIADMK has five MLAs and the DMK two legislators in the Puducherry Assembly.
Police have begin organising patrols across the city as a preventive measure.
But the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has suspended its premier Volvo bus services to Chennai fearing violence.
The PRTC is adopting a wait and watch approach and will take a call on running long-haul Volvo buses scheduled later in the day and other regular services to destinations in Tamil Nadu according to the situation, an official said.
