Bihar BJP chief tests positive for COVID-19

A day after 24 Bihar BJP leaders, office-bearers and staff at the party headquarters in Patna were found infected with COVID-19 , State unit president Sanjay Jaiswal’s sample test report on Wednesday came as positive.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Yadav took on State BJP leadership for “spreading” pandemic in the State.

Mr. Jaiswal’s wife and mother too are said to be infected and all have been advised to be in home quarantine.

Mr. Jaiswal has, of late, been meeting party leaders and office-bearers at the party headquarters in view of the upcoming Assembly elections in October-November. The BJP headquarters has been sanitised and sealed.

Cases in Raj Bhawan

Besides, over three dozen staff of the Raj Bhawan (Governor House) too have been found infected with the disease.

Mr. Tejashwi Yadav said, “Along with the State president, vice-president and legislators, several big leaders of the BJP are infected with COVID-19. The BJP leaders are spreading pandemic in Bihar. The party has got such a non-performer health minister who could not even protect offices of the Deputy Chief Minister and party headquarters from Corona... so how could he would protect Bihar and the common people here?”, he tweeted in Hindi.

On Wednesday, Bihar reported total COVID-19 deaths as 157 and total positive cases as 20,173. However, the number of total recoveries has been 13,533 with a recovery rate of 67.08% . A health department bulletin said the total active cases yet has been 6,482.
