Cooch Behar Trophy: Indrajith, Sharukh bat well

Half centuries from B. Indrajith (65) and Sharukh Khan (63) helped Tamil Nadu to 346 on day two of the Cooch Behar Trophy u-19 tournament at Murugappa Ground in Chennai on Sunday.

In reply Kerala finished the day on 34 for the loss of two wickets. At Bangalore, a fine batting display ensured Karnataka complete control in its match against Himachal Pradesh.

Resuming on 290 for no loss at the Aditya Global Sports ground, Karnataka piled on the misery with openers D. Nischal and Rohan Kadam adding another 80 runs on Sunday to record a 371-run partnership.

Rohan Kadam was unfortunate to get dismissed one run short of his double century, but Shreyas Gopal (104) guaranteed a mammoth first-innings score.

Nischal, meanwhile, completed his double century (223 off 452 balls), and the visitors ended the day on a disappointing 25 for two.

At Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), an unbeaten 191 by Shubham Sharma propelled Madhya Pradesh to 391 for seven in 156 overs against Andhra at the end of the second day’s play.

The scores: Tamil Nadu 346 in 167 overs (B. Indrajith 65, Sharukh Khan 63, S. Sujay 33, Akshay Chandran four for 65, S. Sivaraj four for 60) vs. Kerala 34 for two in 22 overs.

Karnataka 618 for five decl. in 169 overs (D. Nischal 223, Rohan Kadam 199, Shreyas Gopal 104) vs Himachal Pradesh 25 for two in 8.2 overs.

Madhya Pradesh 391 for seven in 156 overs (Shubham Sharma 191 batting, Shrivastav 78, A.V. Singh 33) vs Andhra.
