The inmates of SKCV Children's Home at Hanumanpet and Navajeevan Bala Bhavan at Bavajipet were subjected to a rigorous orthopaedic medical examination on Saturday in a free camp organised by The Hindu in association with M.V.S. Accident Hospital, Suryaraopet as part of ‘Bone and Joint Day' awareness campaign.
Orthopaedic surgeon M.J. Naidu, head of M.V.S. Accident Hospital, screened the children for orthopaedic related ailments and counselled them on how to stay fit and healthy. He assured the managements of SKCV and Navajeevan that free medical facilities would be provided to their children in the case of any injuries. Dr. Naidu asked the SKCV management to bring two children, who require callipers to his hospital for follow-up action. He also assured necessary treatment for another child who requires surgery for extra thumb on his hand.
Despite his hectic schedule, Dr. Naidu personally examined nearly 200 children in both the homes spent more than two hours with them. Freely interacting with the children, he suggested to them to do exercises for physical fitness. On noticing that a child was suffering from myopathy, Dr. Naidu recommended to him to continue exercises and dancing. There was no treatment for myopathy in any part of the world and the best solution was to do exercises, he made clear.

Dr. Naidu appreciated the philanthropic activities of both the NGOs, and assured all possible help in future for the children. The inmates and managements expressed their happiness that an orthopaedic of his calibre paid a visit to their place and interacted with them.
