Former union minister Saifuddin Soz has urged the Centre to improve the infrastructure at Indian government-run medical centres at Madina, Mecca and Jeddah to facilitate efficient and timely treatment for pilgrims.
In a letter to External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, Soz said he would submit a comprehensive report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh within a few days on how best to improve the facilities for the pilgrims in the future.
“I have in the letter asked for augmenting facilities in respect of necessary equipment needed at the government’s medical centres in three important cities in Saudi Arabia, so that the patients among Haj pilgrims receive adequate and proper treatment,” Mr. Soz, who is leader of the government’s Haj delegation, said in a statement here.

He said he had detailed discussions with the doctors on duty at Mecca, Madina and Jeddah during his Haj pilgrimage.
Mr. Soz also informed the Minister that while improvements have taken place relating to provision of facilities for Haj pilgrims, there was room for further improvement.
