When she is born
people mourn,
sometimes killed,

before her life’s dawn;
her existence questioned
when she is grown.

Suffering since childhood,
now afraid of her womanhood
she fears to walk alone.
With the lost hope of a better ’morrow
everyone moves neglecting her sorrow
her feathers clipped before she could try to fly.
Her innocence torn;
just because a girl she was born!
Today, she closes her eyes,
in an unconscious state;
seeking liberty in another world,
where she could change her fate.
