The book in my hand

I am reading two books at the moment: The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing and Sunil Khilnani’s Incarnations: India in 50 Lives . I am rereading The Golden Notebook as I am writing a biography of Lessing. I generally read about half-a-dozen books at once; I believe it is a mistake to think that you have to stick to one. It depends on what I feel like reading at a particular moment: non-fiction, history, poetry and so on. I’ve just finished Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend (Neapolitan novels, book one). It’s simply brilliant and I plan on reading the second one next.

I am reading Business Maharajas by Gita Piramal. It’s a book that profiles industrial tycoons such as Dhirubhai Ambani, R.P. Goenka, Rahul Bajaj and so on. This book was published before I began reading about business so I wanted to backtrack. I recently read Aarushi by Avirook Sen and The Architect’s Apprentice by Elif Shafak.
