Mr. Lee said in an interview on State-owned Channel NewsAsia on Thursday that Singaporeans shouldn't stereotype or feel resentment towards foreigners. A Chinese student who was on a Singapore government scholarship was fined last month by the National University of Singapore for calling the city-state's citizens a derogatory word on his blog. The government in recent years has faced growing backlash against a surge of foreigners who now account for about a third of the workforce. The government has pledged to favour Singaporeans in education and housing policies.
