The lead article, headlined “Space for little people,” published in the Magazine section of July 20, 2014, made a factual error in stating that there was a 71.4 per cent decrease in the budget allocation to the Ministry of Human Resource Development in Budget 2014-15.
The statement failed to take into consideration funds allocated for “Central Assistance to State and Union Territory Plans,” reported separately in the Budget (which was a deviation from earlier budgets). In reality, the budget allocation of the MHRD in 2014-15 (BE) increased by 4 per cent over the previous year’s budget estimate. The article has been removed from the web platforms. The error is regretted.
