The State government has recommended to the Union government to allow Paravthi, the ailing mother of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader V. Prabakaran, for medical treatment in Tamil Nadu subject to certain conditions, M.K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister, informed the Assembly on Monday.
This followed Ms Parvathi’s request, sent through e-mail, to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi that she wanted to come to Tiruchi from Kuala Lumpur for the treatment. The request, carrying the impression of her thumb, was received by the Chief Minister’s Special Cell on April 30, the Deputy Chief Minister said, adding that the government sent its recommendation to Union Home Secretary.
Mr Stalin, who placed a suo motu statement, recalled the Chief Minister’s assurance to the Assembly on April 19 when Mr Karunanidhi had expressed the State government’s willingness to help Ms Parvathi provided she declared that she wanted to have the treatment in the State.

The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to the direction given by the Madras High Court in a case on Friday last to the government to consider her petition or an appeal given by the petitioner.
