The Madras High Court has posted for Friday for further hearing a petition seeking a direction to the Union Government to forthwith provide a special plane from Kuala Lumpur to enable Parvathi (80), mother of the LTTE leader, V.Prabakaran, to come here for medical treatment.

In his petition, R.Karuppan of Royapettah here submitted that on April 16 Mrs.Parvathi flew from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai with a valid passport and visa. She was not allowed to disembark and was sent back to Kuala Lumpur. She had been given a valid visa for medical treatment for about 180 days by the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. The petitioner said no authority was entitled to deport her without allowing her to disembark. It was “barbaric and opposed to the rule of law, the Constitution and the United Nations Charter on Human Rights to which the Indian Government is a signatory.”
