Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray was discharged on Tuesday from the Lilavati Hospital here where he had undergone a second angioplasty procedure, party officials said.

Mr. Thackeray underwent the procedure last Sunday. His wife, sons, as well as senior party leaders, were present at the hospital. Also present was Mr. Thackeray’s estranged cousin and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray.

Mr. Thackeray (52) underwent his first angioplasty in the same hospital on July 20. All three arterial blockages were successfully removed after a complex three-hour surgery then.

The second procedure, a simpler one, lasted around an hour.

A third angioplasty is likely to be conducted after three months, party sources said.
