Post-Badaun, mass transfer of IAS, IPS officers

June 08, 2014 03:35 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:59 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

In a new twist to the sensational Badaun gang rape-cum-murder case, the Uttar Pradesh police chief, A.L. Banerjee, on Saturday said forensic experts and investigators have so far failed to confirm the rape of one of the two girls who were found hanging from a tree in Katra Sadatganj village.

He said the special investigation team (SIT) probing the case was preparing to conduct lie detector and narco analysis tests of “all those who are under suspicion” in the case.

Meanwhile, the State government suspended Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Atul Saxena and District Magistrate (DM) Shambhunath Yadav for dereliction of duty in the gang rape and murder case, besides transferring 66 IAS and 42 IPS officers amid widespread criticism over deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

The DGP hinted at property dispute being one of the motives behind the killings “Rape has not been confirmed on one girl...There could be other motive behind it [the murder].”
