The operation of trains and buses was affected at several places in Bihar on Monday, when the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad called a bandh to condemn the police action against its members staging a protest against poor educational standards here on March 26.

Hundreds of ABVP workers halted trains at the Gaya, Jehanabad, Ara, Barh, Mokama, Darbhanga and Patna stations and blocked highways in Jehanabad, Arwal Aurangabad, Nalanda and Buxar districts. Many passengers were stranded.

However, in Patna, business establishments and educational institutions worked and traffic was normal.

“At some places, train services were disrupted for some time,” said Arvind Kumar Rajak, Chief Public Relations Officer, East Central Railway.
