The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted a fortnight’s parole to Siddharth Vashishtha alias Manu Sharma to appear for Master’s degree exam in Human Rights.

Manu has been serving life imprisonment in the sensational Jessica Lal murder case in which the young model was shot dead at point blank range in socialite Bina Ramani’s crowded Tamarind Court restaurant at Mehrauli here in the wee hours of April 30, 1999.

The Court granted parole to him subject to furnishing a bail bond of Rs.50,000 with one surety of a like amount.

Other conditions which the Court asked him to abide by during the parole period are that he will not leave the National Capital Region and will not be in the vicinity of the residence of the victim or her family members.

Counsel for the convict submitted that the examinations were scheduled to begin on June 19. His counsel further said he had approached the Court after the Delhi Government rejected his plea for the parole.
