Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Friday waved black flags at Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash for his alleged involvement with solar scam accused Sarita S. Nair, who was >sentenced to three years in prison by a Magistrate’s Court in one of the cases on Thursday.
The DYFI activists showed black flags at the Minister at his programme at the Coir Board Office on Panikkar Road and during the function for distribution of title deeds at the District Collectorate.
It was the second incident which evoked dramatic scenes as agitators barged into the function and attempted to disrupt the programme at 4 p.m. They also shouted slogans against the Minister, who seemed unfazed by the protest. However, the timely intervention of the police helped them to overpower the protesters and they were removed from the dais.

The demonstrators included DYFI district secretary P. Nikhil, joint secretaries Varun Bhaskar, S.K. Sajeesh, district secretariat member C.M. Jamsheer and Kozhikode Corporation councillor C. Sini. The protest created a commotion in front of the Civil Station. Incidentally the agitators by mistake blocked the car of Minister for Social Justice M.K. Muneer, who reached the venue earlier.
The first disruption was when the Minister arrived to inaugurate a scheme of the Malabar Coir region when a dozen DYFI activists tried to block his vehicle at around 3 p.m. The DYFI activists were arrested and separate cases were registered by the police in connection with the incidents.
