The final of the All-India YSCA trophy between India Cements and SBM (Bangalore) held at M.A. Chidambaram stadium here was called off due to unplayable ground conditions. Both the teams agreed to share the trophy and were declared joint-winners.

The match was reduced to a 22 overs-a-side affair, owing to overnight rain.

Put in to bat first after India Cements won the toss, SBM (Bangalore) was 36 for the loss of eight wickets after 7.3 overs when the pitch was deemed unfit.

“The batsmen first complained about the pitch after the loss of the first wicket. When the second wicket fell, another complaint was lodged after which the umpires took note.” said M.S. Gurumurthy, YSCA organising secretary. The match was halted after six more wickets fell.

K.B. Arun Karthik (India Cements) and S. Thiyagarajan (SBM, Bangalore) were declared the ‘best batsman’ and ‘best bowler’ respectively. K.S. Viswanathan, Honorary Secretary, TNCA, gave away the prizes.

The scores: SBM (Bangalore) 36 for eight from 7.3 overs (match abandoned).
