U-19 WC: India finishes fifth

India finished fifth in the under-19 World Cup after a strong batting effort saw it beat the West Indies by 46 runs in a high-scoring classification match here on Thursday.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s century was not enough for the Caribbean side.

Afghanistan, playing in its third World Cup, finished an impressive seventh after defeating Sri Lanka by five wickets.

The Afghans had shocked Australia by 36 runs earlier in the tournament.

Zimbabwe finished 11th in the 16-team tournament when it thrashed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 84 runs.
