South Zone moved to a strong position against North Zone and looks set to capture the Vizzy Trophy inter-University inter-Zonal crown at the Wankhede Stadium here on Friday.
On day three of the four-day final, South had gained a handsome first innings lead of 177 runs and then reduced North to 280 for seven in its second innings.
At stumps, Hemanshu Satyawan (21) and Tarun Sharma (0) were at the crease with only Nitin Yadav and R. Lokendra remaining to bat.

North again plunged into trouble against the left-arm spin duo of S. Daniel and Abrar Kazi as in the first essay when it lost seven wickets to the two while being dismissed for 365.
Dhruv misses century
Dhruv Shaurya was unlucky to miss his hundred by four runs, dismissed by Daniel, after facing 104 balls in his 106-minute knock that contained a six and nine fours.

Among the rest, opener Rajvinder Singh made 48 off 64 balls with seven fours, while Abhishek scored 73 off 67 balls with five fours.
Daniel grabbed four wickets to add to the three he took in the first innings, while Kazi claimed two for his match haul to six.
In the morning, North did well to restrict South to 542 from the overnight 417 for three. Sandeep Rajan made 80. North's Charanjeet Singh claimed six wickets while Lokendra got the remaining wickets.
