Seven BCCI members non-compliant, say Committee of Administrators

Tamil Nadu Cricket Association among members deemed non-compliant

The long overdue annual general body meeting of the BCCI and its elections appear to be heading towards a climax with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) announcing a list of BCCI members whose amended constitution is in terms with the BCCI Constitution as approved by the apex Court on Aug. 9 last year.

The CoA has scheduled the AGM and elections on Oct. 22 and had extended the deadline for the State associations to conduct their elections to Sept. 28.

While the CoA has put the number at 18 among the 38 full members — as fully compliant, having registered with their State’s regulatory body — it has stated that seven members are non-compliant on account of either (a) failure to get their respective constitution approved by the COA; or (b) failure to submit their amended constitution as sought by CoA.

The CoA has stated that “Only those full members of the BCCI who have (a) registered their constitution, as approved by the COA, (b) inducted former international players (male and female) as members in accordance with the directions of CoA, and (c) confirmed their membership structure, as required under the Judgement, will be considered as compliant.

The BCCI members who, according to the CoA, are non-compliant are: Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Haryana and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.

Most of the associations, including those who are fully compliant, believe that the Supreme Court has to look at the suggestions made by the amicus curiae P.S. Narasimha, pass an order for the BCCI AGM to be convened and elections held.

The CoA has said that the following associations have to submit their registered constitution that has already been approved by it. They are Hyderabad, Bihar, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Odisha, Saurashtra, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Jharkhand.

The CoA is scrutinising the constitutions of Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh. Compliant associations which are eligible to vote are: Andhra, Assam, Mizoram, Pondicherry, Delhi, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, Vidarbha and Baroda.

Apart from these 18, the representatives of Services, Railways and All India Universities will be allowed to vote.
