Players wish Yuvraj speedy recovery

February 07, 2012 02:28 am | Updated July 23, 2016 11:59 pm IST - CHENNAI:

‘Fighter' was the common epithet that Mohammad Kaif and Piyush Chawla chose to describe Yuvraj Singh. Both Kaif and Chawla, who are with the Central Zone side here for the Duleep Trophy, expressed shock after learning of Yuvraj's battle with a lung tumour.

“I texted him yesterday saying, ‘you are a fighter, you will come back stronger',” said Kaif, who shared a memorable partnership with Yuvraj in the Natwest Trophy final in 2002. “He has always been a chilled-out guy, a fun character. I was a little shocked to know about him being diagnosed (with this tumour). Those who know him well will tell you that he is very soft at heart and cares a lot for his family and friends. I wish him the best for a speedy recovery.”

Chawla, who has played for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL under Yuvraj's captaincy, echoed similar sentiments. “I had a chat with him. Yuvi said he is feeling much better. We have been praying for him. He is very popular and everybody likes him. As a person, he is a guy who is always there to help you.”
