BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said: “The Board members wanted a change too, and there is a demand for more accountability. They felt they have to win back the faith of the cricket-loving public,” he said.
“The image that the Board is controlled by one person will change.”

The decision-making, asserted Mr. Thakur, would be a collective process.
“All the conflicts within the Board need to be buried. We just can’t allow its image to be dented anymore. There won’t be any vindictive moves from this set of office-bearers. We are going to work on improving the image of cricket administration,” Mr. Thakur said.
On the cricket front, he said they want to introduce new programmes.

“Cricket is a priority,” he declared. “I want to see India emerge as a good Test nation.”
Rotation policyNoting that India is “playing very good cricket at the World Cup,” the new Secretary said he would work to encourage a “rotation policy” to keep the cricketers in the best physical state for international matches.
“We will try and develop the bench strength,” he said.
“We also want to reach out to the cricketers. The game is because of them.”
Mr. Thakur said: “The Board’s functioning will be more transparent. It is now accepted that members want a clean Board. Lot of unpleasant things had happened in the recent past. I still feel that the BCCI is the best-run sports body in the country. It needs a bit of tuning.”
