Despite M. Shahrukh Khan’s 105 (145b, 15x4, 3x6), S. Suresh Kumar’s 144 (, 251b, 13x4, 3x6), and a crucial 80 runs studded with six fours and a six by R. Sathish, Jolly Rovers, resuming on 176 for three on the third day finished with 419, well short of Vijay’s 548.
In another elite contest, Alwarpet defeated India Pistons by an innings and 217 runs to top the table with 16 points.

In the plate contest at Murugappa, IOB’s off-spinner M. Shanmughan took two more wickets to take his tally to seven for 98 even as Triplicane (overnight at 267) finished on 331. At close, IOB was 142 for six.
