Rohit Sharma considers getting two double hundreds as special. He is pleased the way he got the record shattering 264 to become the first in the world to do so.
Speaking on the monumental innings he compiled here in the 4th ODI, Rohit said: “I had to build the innings. The first 10 to 15 overs were not easy. I was feeling a little out of place.

“My stroking was not coming naturally. I wanted to stay in the middle and that required a lot of dedication and determination. I decided to stick around.
“Luckily, the quick-fire innings from Ajinkya Rahane helped me settle down. I just wanted to make my stay count. I wanted to make this game special one for me and Team India,” he said.

Rohit said he was a little surprised and shocked when he noticed his team giving him an ovation.
“I realised I must have passed the previous record of 219 by Virender Sehwag. Most importantly I am happy to bat for 50 overs. To bat till last over is really pleasing for me,” he said.
“I have still a lot more to do. When I was young I wanted to play cricket. I never thought this would happen. But all the records happen along the way. I still have a lot more to do; probably work hard. The expectation could be more from here. A lot of responsibility on my shoulders,” he said.
Mathews distraughtSri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews expressed his disappointment over his team’s poor show.
He agreed that it was the worst performance in the last eight to 10 months.
“We have competed against top sides and the way we are playing here is really not acceptable,” he said.
