The Justice Mukul Mudgal panel found former BCCI president N. Srinivasan not guilty of match-fixing nor of having tried to prevent the investigation but stated that he and four other BCCI officials knew about a player violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct, but took no action.
The name of the player and the details of the violation were not specified. Mr. Srinivasan was among the 13 names probed by the Supreme Court-appointed panel for corruption in the IPL.

The panel which also included L. Nageswara Rao, Additional Solicitor-General and senior advocate Nilay Dutta, had submitted its interim report on February 10, indicting Gurunath Meiyappan for betting.

It said, “Gurunath Meiyappan formed an integral part of Chennai Super Kings and most persons viewed him as the face of the team.”
In its final report, a portion of which was released on Monday, the panel said, “This individual (Mr. Srinivasan) is not involved with match-fixing. He was not found to be involved in scuttling the investigations into match-fixing.”
On Mr. Meiyappan, Mr. Srinivasan’s son-in-law, the panel confirmed its findings in the interim report, saying, “He was frequently meeting Individual two (name withheld) in his hotel room. This strengthens the conclusion of the committee that he was in close touch with Individual two.”
The panel said, “The forensic report of the voice sample analysis further confirms the voice of Gurunath Meiyappan in the conversation with the person acting as a go-between, between Meiyappan and bookies. Consequently, the voice sample belonging to Meiyappan gets resolved and the reports thus become unanimous about the betting activity of Meiyappan.”
The panel, however, held that no material was available on record to show that Mr. Meiyappan was involved in match-fixing.
