Virat Kohli on Friday said he was very disappointed with “a lot of people” for the “personal attack” after he failed to score in the World Cup semifinal against Australia that India lost.
Speaking at a function where Carrier Midea became Royal Challengers Bangalore’s home appliances partner, he felt that he performed better than anyone else in the team over a period of time. “Personally, I was very disappointed. I have helped India win a number of matches in the last five years. I have played more consistently than anyone else in the team.
“But, the way people reacted towards my personal life, and Anushka (Sharma) in particular, was really disrespectful. I was very hurt and wanted to express that for quite a long time, but I wanted to take a break for a few days. It is very important for people to know that we are human beings at the end of the day. For people to react that way and blame her for our team’s loss and my failure, hurt me a lot. It is shameful to see that people can react like that to one loss. I just wanted to express that and get it out of my mind because it is very important for people to know how we feel about these things.
