Cycling has become more fun and easy with the newly launched, pocket-friendly multi-terrain e-bikes by LightSpeed. Bengaluru-based crowdfunding platform Fueladream helped produce one of the lightest electric bikes in India with pedal assist and a range of other features. Lightspeed, which launched two multi-terrain e-bikes, the DRYFT and GLYD last month, was conceived by Rahil, Rushad, Krishna, Murtaza and six other youngsters from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Fueladream is a crowdfunding marketplace for people and organizations that aims to raise funds for creative ideas, causes, charities and events. It helped raise over ₹16 lakh for the Lightspeed e bikes. “Demand for electric bikes is growing as e-bikes are the future of personal transportation”, says Ranganath Thota, Founder and CEO of Fueladream.com.
The bikes come with a rechargeable battery from either Samsung or Panasonic, a noiseless motor, pedal boost assist, disc brakes on both wheels, and an LED display to show the speed and the battery level. They claim to be the lightest bikes in India, weighing only 21 kg including the battery that weighs around 2 kg.

The Lightspeed GLYD has three levels of pedal booster tech and is designed to combat the busy city traffic while the DRYFT, with a five-level pedal booster, is designed for off road travel. The GLYD has a range of 35kmph and a top speed of 25 kmph. The DRYFT is an adventure companion for the rocky terrain. It has a range of 50kmph and top speed of 25kmph along with front shock absorbers.
The GYLD is available at ₹27,999 and DRYFT at ₹37,999. These bikes have already been launched in five cities including Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai and 10 orders have already been taken.
“The feedback from people was encouraging, they are understanding the need of an e-bike in urban areas and its contribution towards making the city pollution free”, says Rahil, one of the minds behind the idea of the e-bikes.

The bikes are available online on Fueladream.com. It takes over a month to deliver the product to the customers because the manufacturing starts after the payment. “The Indian customers are willing to trust an unknown product and read about it on an online platform and wait for days to get the product delivered. That is a lot to ask for, hence, we make sure that the delivered product is worth waiting for,” says Thota.
