OnePlus 6 launched: price and specs

After coming up with new phones at breakneck speed, Chinese smartphone player OnePlus has released another edition of its flagship Android phone, OnePlus 6. The new kid on the block was released at an event in London on May 16, and comes just six months after the release of its predecessor OnePlus 5T. The Chinese smartphone company has been teasing specifications of the phone for quite some time now.

Here is what we know till now:

The phone sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that promises ‘stunning speed’. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo in an Oxygen OS.

OnePlus 6 joins the face-unlock bandwagon. The phone can also be unlocked via a fingerprint sensor.

The phone has up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It boasts of a large 6.28-inch display complete with the trendy notch. It also sports a 3D multi-layered glass-back cover. The glass back contains five printed layers of ‘Nanotech Coating’, a first in the smartphone industry, said Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO, in a blog post.

OnePlus 6 claims to have upped its camera/video game with a 4K resolution video at 30f/60 fps facility. It has a dual camera setup with two sensors, 16M and 20M. The camera also reportedly has optical image stabilisation, increased low light sensitivity and also a super slow motion feature.

The phone retains the headphone jack and is water resistant. “Just don’t take it out for a swim,” says the promo.

The phone will be available in three different colours: mirror black, midnight black and silk white.
