Internet search engine giant Google has unveiled its much awaited television platform -- Google TV -- in partnership with Sony, Logitech and Intel that will allow users to find content from both TV and the web.
Google TV would be accessed through Internet-enabled televisions, which would be manufactured by Sony and Google will provide the software.
“This technology brings the full power of the Internet to the television viewing experience. Google TV merges traditional TV programming with the wide amount of content on the web, allowing viewers unprecedented access, control and flexibility over all forms of digital content,” Google said in a statement.

Google TV is based on the Android platform and runs on Google Chrome web browser, and it would be available to customers in the US this fall (September-October), it said.
Apart from Sony building the devices, Logitech International will manufacture a Google TV appliance that can work with current high-definition TVs.
Intel, Sony and Logitech together with Best Buy, Dish Network and Adobe have announced their support for Google TV.

Google TV expands video choice from hundreds of channels available through a pay TV provider to the vast storehouse of video content available through the web and streaming videos.
