This refers to the report that Valsa John, a nun and anti-displacement activist in Jharkhand, was killed brutally, allegedly by the coal mafia. Sr. John dedicated herself to a movement against the displacement of Adivasis by coal mining companies. Her murder is disturbing for not only the Christian communities which have been working for the development of people but all well-meaning people.

That Sr. John was murdered because of her involvement in activities that benefited the poor and helpless Adivasis, whose lands are snatched from them by capitalists, is unfortunate. This is not the first time that such a gruesome act has taken place.
