Railway platforms

The Open Page article “Revelation at railway platform” (Open Page, Oct. 16) was a neat presentation of the woes of passengers at railway platforms. With the introduction of more and more trains, people thronging the railway stations are ever increasing. The Railways have made no effort to cater to their needs. They increase the length of the platforms but do not even provide a roof over the extended portions. Passengers get drenched during the rains. The number of toilets on platforms is hardly sufficient. A few located at a corner are virtually unusable. They are either too old or without water. No one goes into the train or out of it without turning his or her face in disgust.
