The article “A plumber is as important as a doctor” (Open Page) reminded me of a joke by R.K. Laxman. A pipe burst in a doctor's house and a plumber was sent for. The plumber arrived, unpacked his tools, rattled around for a while and handed over a bill for Rs.3000.
The doctor exclaimed: “This is ridiculous! I don't make that much even as a doctor!” The plumber quietly said: “Neither did I when I was a doctor.”
