On euthanasia

February 28, 2014 12:22 am | Updated November 17, 2021 02:46 am IST

This refers to the report, “Euthanasia plea goes to Constitution Bench” (Feb. 26). Crude and insensitive as it may sound, the “remedy” for clinically dead patients is mercy killing. As long as there is consent for euthanasia from the terminally ill or their blood relatives, this wish has to be fulfilled by the State. Dying is the “cure” for patients suffering from incurable diseases. Some European countries have legalised euthanasia. The legislators of the 16th Lok Sabha should pass a Bill legalising euthanasia.
