No bad language

November 11, 2013 01:23 am | Updated 01:23 am IST

This refers to the news item “Partymen should refrain from using BJP’s bad language: PM” (Nov.10). It is a fact that during the election campaign, a number of leaders in both ruling and Opposition parties use uncivilised language to win people’s support. This has been the trend since the past few elections.

It was the BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was dignified in his speeches while canvassing for votes. Being a good orator, he mesmerised audiences with his punch lines and poetic style of oration. The present crop of political leaders has much to learn from him. The Prime Minister’s statement is welcome and will highlight the need for debate on this issue.
