Mehbooba as CM

It might be premature to judge Mehbooba Mufti at this stage (“The inheritance of loss”, April 6). In politics, the party leader has to learn to give and take especially in a State like Jammu and Kashmir. In turn, the BJP has to relent on certain issues, and with least provocation, ensure the smooth functioning of the government.

Ms. Mufti must make it a point to prove that her leadership qualities are not fading. Be it the border issue, terrorist infiltration or Article 370, the people of the State now expect her to have answers to all these. She might be excused for her delaying tactics, but she has the dual challenge of dealing with internal rebellion and working her way out of Delhi’s shadow.
