‘Paid news'

It is a great pity that the Press Council of India is taking the issue of “paid news” so lightly even after finding overwhelming evidence. It is its sacred responsibility to maintain high journalistic standards among the media. By soft-pedalling a serious issue it is doing a great harm to the Indian democracy and is itself becoming an indirect housemaid to money power.
