Improve quality first

Even if we bring 14-18 year olds within the Right to Education Act, the quality of education is not going to improve (“Left behind”, Jan. 18). The focus must be on improving the skills of those who are between the ages of 6 and 14, so that those students, equipped with good skills, willingly enrol for higher education and are better prepared to enter the workforce later. The government already supports students with scholarships and other merits for secondary education.
