Honouring Godse

December 20, 2014 01:03 am | Updated April 21, 2017 06:00 pm IST

It is deplorable that some attempts are being made to honour Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, who was an embodiment of non-violence, honesty and secularism (“Congress deplores plan to honour Godse,” Dec.19). Even when the freedom movement was in full swing, he made it clear that though he was against British rule in India he was not against the British as such. How can any Indian honour the one who murdered the father of the nation?
