Contrary to wider expectations, the World Cup semi-final line-up has thrown up a twist, with South Africa upsetting Australia in the last league game of the tournament. The Proteas seem to have done a favour to India by placing them atop the points table, which will make Team India clash with New Zealand in the semi-finals. Both Australia and India wanted to finish at the top to avoid facing England, who are riding high on confidence after their back-to-back wins in the last two league games. Meanwhile, India are just two strong games away from clinching the World Cup title for the third time, and if they do so they will become the second nation to win the Cup more than twice.
