Fission and fusion

Only iconic leaders can keep their flock together in the fickle world of politics (“26 MLAs openly ‘back’ Dhinakaran”, June 7). Shifting loyalties are not new when lesser personalities govern and this has been the trend in the Indian political landscape. The fact that our elected representatives now offer their support to an aspiring politician may lead to a weakening of the AIADMK and a fresh election. It is unfortunate that instead of governing us, the elected government in Tamil Nadu is spending precious time in retaining power.
