The Editorial, “Unacceptable fetters” (October 23), must be seen against the backdrop of global leaders from civil society, business and government who are championing the fight against corruption having gathered in May 2016 in London to discuss “Tackling Corruption Together”. They set out their commitments to end impunity, prevent corruption, empower victims and support activists in an effort to bolster good governance and transparency and support sustainable development. Corruption is no longer a domestic problem but a global one which needs an international response and commitment. Hence, Rajasthan’s recent ordinance shielding the corrupt and threatening the media and whistle-blowers is against this commitment.
