Exit polls & Congress

May 15, 2014 02:08 am | Updated May 24, 2016 10:55 am IST

One can only agree with Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh when he says that exit poll results are only opinions and similar polls in the past have been proved to be wrong ( >“Exit polls will be wrong this time also: Jairam Ramesh,” May 14 ).

It is also to be noted that there is no proven scientific method in these polls. However, many will disagree with his statement that the campaign was made depressingly communal and polarised only by the BJP. How can he ignore the Congress, the SP and the BSP who were equally polarising during campaigning? And how can he duck a question on Rahul Gandhi wriggling out of the situation if the Congress suffers heavy poll losses?
