Events at Maruti

This refers to the report “99 Maruti workers held for murder, rioting” (July 20). The happenings at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant are disturbing. It is especially sad as there are some management institutes that use the car manufacturer’s style of industrial relations as a model in their syllabus. That such a grim and gloomy incident occurred in a well managed plant is incredible.

The management and the union should sit down in a calm atmosphere to review events.
