Boost for Indian Navy

“The promise of Vikramaditya” (editorial, Nov.21) was interesting. A carrier-centric surface fleet and a submarine force have to coexist especially as countries along the Indo-Pacific region are making their aggressive ambitions known. Therefore, the Indian military doctrine should be one that works towards making our maritime defence impregnable.

With India facing pressure to expand naval policing that includes anti-terrorism operations, safeguarding our coastal assets will now receive a boost with the new arrival.
