Appeal

April 07, 2014 01:43 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:27 pm IST

The appeal to vote against a particular political formation citing a threat to secularism as the reason is grossly unfair and against the spirit of a free and fair election (“Intellectuals flag threat to secular polity,” April 6). The Indian electorate is mature enough to judge and choose what is good for it. So-called intellectuals should know that there may be other intellectuals who have an alternate opinion. If they are so serious about protecting the secular polity they should enter the political arena and fight for their cause as Arvind Kejriwal has done. I hope the Election Commission takes note of such biased appeals.
